China's government was indeed behind the hack on Google's Gmail system earlier this year according to a cable captured by the controversial Wikileaks organization. This information was released by 5 other media outlets including The New York Times. Facebook is taking action against the developers who sold user data to data brokers. The Wall Street Journal reported a few weeks ago that Facebook suffered a huge "security breach" when in reality developers were just not following Facebook's Platform Policies and Facebook was just not enforcing anything. It seems now that Facebook has added some new restrictions and will now put the developers who broke the policy on probation for six months. Apple is interested in mobile payments startup BOKU. Blockbuster has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy. Who didn't know this was coming? I already thought they were bankrupt. Blockbuster has been slow to adapt but there plan is that bankruptcy will allow them to reemerge with a debt equity swap and be able to change their strategy. LinkedIn does not make many acquisitions but it just acquired San Fransisco based ChoiceVendor, which provides ratings and reviews of businesses.

Yesterday afternoon, Twitter rolled out many new features. Among them, the ability to share flickr sets and keyboard shortcuts. Justin Bieber just got more powerful. Today, Twitter is rumored to be unveiling inline pictures and video in the twitter stream. This would mimic what some twitter apps already do such as Brizzly.
