As Twitter has just announced on their blog, by connecting iTunes to Twitter, you’ll be able to not only find your Twitter friends on Ping, but you’ll be able to tweet out Ping activity as well. That last bit is a key to making Ping actually work. Facebook is taking action against the developers who sold user data to data brokers. The Wall Street Journal reported a few weeks ago that Facebook suffered a huge "security breach" when in reality developers were just not following Facebook's Platform Policies and Facebook was just not enforcing anything. It seems now that Facebook has added some new restrictions and will now put the developers who broke the policy on probation for six months. Apple is interested in mobile payments startup BOKU. Diaspora, the open source social network, has released its source code. It only has the most basic features so far but it will continue to gain high level features over time. As far as features go, Diaspora currently supports sharing status messages and photos privately and in near real time, in addition to providing options for friending people and uploading photos and albums.
