Browser market share numbers are out for October from Net Applications. Chrome made the biggest gains with a 0.49 percent jump from September to 8.47 percent. Chrome is the third most popular browser after Internet Explorer (59.26 percent) and Firefox (22.82 percent). Both FireFox and IE saw their overall market share positions erode slightly by 0.39 percent and 0.14 percent, respectively. Safari was up a smidge (0.06 percent)

Google just bought another social media start up to add to their social media strategy toolbox. Angstro has a really interesting presentation video here. The site skims through content across blogs, news sites, and a number of other sources to look for material that is related to the people you know and work with. Our government is not secure. Back in 2008 there was a major security breach at the Pentagon but it has only been recently that they acknowledged it. Deputy Secretary of Defense William S. Lynn III has said, "It began when an infected flash drive was inserted into a U.S. military laptop at a base in the Middle East. Dell has released its first US smartphone. This means it will be competing with Apple on three different fronts: smartphones, tablets and computers. It just released a tablet called the Streak this month. Bing now powers Yahoo Search. Microsoft now owns 28.1% of the search market, though that’s still less than half of Google’s 65.8% share.
