At a press conference, Jobs noted that Apple is activating 230,000 iOS-based devices per day. He made sure to specify that that’s 230,000 new devices being activated each day. That figure includes iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches. He suggested that Google, who claims 200,000 Android devices a day, is counting upgrades. Google denies this claim.

Google and AOL have signed a deal that extends the search and advertising partnership between the two companies for another five years. The agreement also includes mobile search and adds a content sharing partnership with YouTube.

The FCC is calling for more public input into net neutrality rules. I would think that this would be a good thing but it seems that this means that companies will be able to propse their ideas. The issue — which essentially is whether and to what degree the FCC should be able to regulate wireless web access — has attracted ferocious lobbying. With wireless booming, the outcome will impact virtually all Americans on many levels and involve billions of dollars.
