Hot to Mention – September 1, 2010
The new Digg has a new CEO. Matt Williams, who comes from Amazon, will be taking over for Kevin Rose. Rose took over a few months ago when Jay Adelson stepped down. Since then we have seen many changes which have angered many Digg users. Last week the company introduced its version 4.0 of the site, promising to add speed, personalization and new social tools in hopes of staying competitive with other sharing networks, including Twitter and Facebook.
Apple debuts new Apple TV that costs $99, is really small and streams Netflix. I want to cancel my cable right now but I have roommates. I hope Comcast falls hard! Steve Jobs said, “They don’t want to manage storage. They don’t want to think about — they just want to watch movies and TV shows. And they don’t want to sync to a computer. And they want whatever hardware we have to be silent, cool, and small.”
